Julie Armstrong

Biblical Counselor

Julie has been in Women’s Ministry for over 20 years, and during that time, she realized God was giving her a passion to work with women who have experienced trauma. Her pastor encouraged her to begin the process of being certified as a Biblical counselor. After her certification was complete, she was asked to come on staff as a Biblical Counselor at Toby’s Place, which is the arm of Oliver Gospel Ministries that serves unhoused women and children.

Julie remembers well her conversation with the Lord when He opened that door. Like Moses, she protested, “Lord, I have never been homeless. Will I be able to walk with these women when our lives have been so different?” Immediately she ‘heard’ these words in her mind… “You haven’t been homeless, but I have, and I live in you. Let me use your voice and I will speak to these women.” And so, a journey began!

She worked at Toby’s Place for 6 years and continued her training in Adverse Childhood Experiences, Coercive Control and Intimate Partner Violence, and Addictive/Compulsive Behaviors.

In November 2024, God opened another door and she is excited about this new season at Daybreak! Julie is serving as an on-site counselor, offering confidential Biblical counseling to any of Daybreak’s clients who are looking for a safe place to process and heal from trauma. She is offering classes in Establishing Healthy Boundaries and Finding Safe Relationships. Her prayer is that women will come to know and trust the Wonderful Counselor who heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

Julie is an active member at Christ Covenant Church in Columbia where she serves in Women’s Ministry. She is blessed with 3 married children, all of whom live in the Columbia/Lexington area, and 8 grandchildren. Her favorite hobby is spending time with them!

She is honored to be serving at Daybreak and looks forward to all that God has planned for this season.
