Beginning in June of 2024, Ben Ondersma became one of the newest board members at Daybreak. He is passionate about pro-life and the sanctity of the life of unborn children.
God has blessed him with a godly wife, Meg, of 11 years and four children. They are all active members at Shandon Baptist Church. It was through friends at Shandon that Ben was introduced to Daybreak Pregnancy Center in 2016 and then he and Meg began supporting the mission through giving and participating in Daybreak fundraising.

Also known as “Dr. O”, Ben serves as a local optometrist in both Northeast Columbia and Camden, South Carolina. It was only through God making a way for an associate to join his practice that gave him the flexibility to dedicate time to Daybreak, for which he is very grateful.

Ben’s hobbies include boating, gardening, and spending time with his family.
Originally from Michigan, he has been in South Carolina since 2010. Shortly after moving to the southern part of the U.S., he met his wife who is from Camden, South Carolina. Growing up in the south, she is adamantly against living in a place that snows six months out of the year. So, as the Lord wills, Ben and his family will be in the south for a long time.

Ben states, “One of the benefits of being a part Daybreak is I have a glimpse of what it means to be the hands and feet of Christ. Not only are practical needs being met, but the gospel of Jesus Christ is advancing. I am thankful and honored for this opportunity to serve alongside this wonderful organization.”
